“Be willing to be a beginner every single morning.” - Meister Eckhart
The Emily Dahl Foundation recently gave one of Ted Ohlsen's carvings to Ava Marginson - a friend of The Emily Dahl Foundation. She found a lovely home for it right here in Vernon, BC, "for now" - Said Ava - this young lady has big plans for the future while being firmly based in the power of now. Ava recently returned from an incredible trip to Panama which included a ton of learning both about culture and herself. This amazing attitude about life that Ava has reminds us of the lovely quote by Meister Eckhart - "Be willing to be a beginner every single morning." Ava shared with us that on her journey throughout Panama she discovered many things: "The biggest being in this life we are here to love and be loved. And no reason is needed for loving. Escape the cave, expand your thinking, and take care of each other’s experiences. It is their first time living too." Ava sends out a big Saskatchewan thank to Ted Ohlsen for the carving. Ava told us: "This will be its home for NOW." Until new adventures arise in August when she heads out to Trent University in Ontario. Thank you to Ava for sending us this picture and for the lovely note! This lovely piece was hand carved by Ted Ohlsen. The bird and the Saskatchewan roots of the carving have tremendous meaning for Ava and her family - who are also originally from Saskatchewan - and now make their home in Vernon, BC.
