The Emily Dahl Foundation is pleased to announce that SKY Volleyball Club in Vernon, BC will be running its annual Players VS Coaches Challenge on Friday, February 28,2020. Doors Open at 6 30 pm at Kal High School.
The Emily Dahl Foundation encourages everyone to come out and support this fun event at Kal High School.
As you can see from the posting put together from Troy Lorenson that donations will be accepted at the event towards The Emily Dahl Foundation. This highlights one of the goals of Sky Volleyball club: Stated simply, one of the goals of The Sky Nation is HAPPINESS.
It is worthwhile to discuss happiness in the context of competitive sport and business in general.
Happiness and mindfulness have become popular topics among leaders of most competitive parts of our lives, including sport and business. Several key executives have spoken publicly in recent months about how it helps them improve the bottom line of business or the “win” in competitive sport.
In a recent lecture, I attended the speaker pointed out the mindfulness of Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple. This important deeper understanding of Steve Jobs is often overlooked. Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce, attended the private memorial service for Steve Jobs and at the end of the event everyone was given a small box and inside the box was the book “Autobiography of a Yogi” by Paramahansa Yogananda.
This final act by one of the most successful business leaders of our time is something that the world should be paying closer attention to and is completely in line with the message of The Emily Dahl Foundation and ultimately what Emily herself was telling us in two very simple words: WAKE UP.
Leaders of sport, business, religion and all other forms of human endeavour need to practise “true” mindfulness.
Would it not make sense if YOU want to be truly successful in what you do that you should consider the wise words of leaders like Steve Jobs? And if you had the opportunity to be sitting at Steve Jobs bedside and he offered to whisper the true secret of his success as his final message to the world, would you not listen?
Well, it turns out he did just that by giving everyone at his service such an interesting book. Now perhaps everyone should read it and begin the process of waking up.
If you consider mindfulness as a means of a winning the volleyball championships or simply beating the other team, then you have not touched its true purpose. It may look like the practice of mindfulness, but inside there’s no peace, no joy, no happiness produced. It’s just imitation. If you don’t feel the energy of the collective of all radiating from your efforts, that is not mindfulness.”
This quote by a well-known spiritual leader sums it up: “If you’re happy, you cannot be a victim of your happiness. But if you’re successful, you can be a victim of your success.”
The Emily Dahl Foundation is a proud supporter of Sky Volleyball and will continue to work alongside The Sky Nation by bringing the message of true mindfulness and happiness as a key objective for all young athletes, parents and coaches.
Let’s all enjoy the process of awakening together this Friday February 28, 2020, in the gentle presence that is in all of us of Emily Dahl.
