The Emily Dahl Foundation has just received a new bunch of carvings from Ted Ohlsen. Ted Ohlsen, a Flin Flon Manitoba resident, who pioneered diamond willow carvings in the early 1970s. Challenged by the loss of his eyesight due to a hunting accident in 1960, Ohlsen has found diamond willow carving to be a relaxing way of expressing his love for the great Canadian outdoors. The greatest gift from the loss of his outer sight was his gain of an inner sight. Ted has developed an awareness of a radiance emanating from a place we generally know nothing about, a place which might as well have been outside us as within. But the radiance is there, or, to put it more precisely, light. Finding this light one can experience indescribable relief and happiness so great it will make you smile and laugh. Thank you, Ted, for the lovely carvings. The Emily Dahl Foundation enjoys spreading this love amongst our community. Each and every one of these carvings will find a lovely home.
