At the end of a conference in Beaver Creek, Colorado this week I was lucky to spend time with a guide named Kevin at Beaver Creek Stables. It was a rainy day, but both Kevin and I decided the sun would come out, so we set out on a ride together into the Colorado mountains. It was a magical ride. Kevin is a deep thinker, and a cowboy. He told me about his time as a guide and his desire to travel to other parts of the world. One of the past trips he loved was his trip to Nepal. No wonder he is a deep thinker. Any exposure to the teachings of the East is sure to make you contemplate the true nature of the things of this world. It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon - in nature, with horses, and many discussions with Kevin about the true purpose of life - happiness. Not exactly the same vibe as the mining conference I had just attended. You just never know what can happen if you are open to the possibilities. Here is the best part - at the end of the ride Kevin showed me the tattoo on his wrist. He had noticed my Emily Dahl Foundation toque with the eternal knot symbol, which is exactly the same as his wrist tattoo inspired by his trip to Nepal.
This amazing coincidence reminds me of the writings and teachings of the remarkable teacher Tenzin Priyadarshi. In his well-known book, "Running Toward Mystery", he wrote the following in the prologue: "Many of the events and individuals that I've encountered on this journey have been profoundly and inexplicably mysterious. The modern mind is ill at ease with uncanny events that defy rational explanation..." I totally agree with The Venerable Tenzin Priyadarshi and highly recommend reading his book. This magical dream world is full of all kinds of surprises, both good and bad. Sherman Dahl The Emily Dahl Foundation
