WU WEI (Do Nothing)? In This World? Are You Sure? – The Emily Dahl Foundation

WU WEI (Do Nothing)? In This World? Are You Sure?

If you have not watched “The Crown” on Netflix, it is worth a look.

This clip about doing nothing is very interesting.

It is only one of the many teachings and pieces of real history that makes “The Crown” series interesting and fun to watch.

By now you most certainly know that The Emily Dahl Foundation is bringing keynote speaker Chris Lemons to Vernon from Scotland on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, to tell his incredible story.

A pinnacle moment of resilience occurred in September of 2012, when the vessel he was working under failed, leaving him on the seabed, 300 feet under water, with no oxygen, light or heat for over 40 minutes. Lemons discusses his remarkable survival and how it continues to perplex doctors to this day.

The main thing Chris did to survive?   Nothing!

He remained as he is, he existed, did nothing, and survived.

Amazing.

"To do nothing at all is the most difficult thing in the world, the most difficult and the most intellectual.”

This quote from 19th-century writer Oscar Wilde also shows up in The Crown series as noted.

Alan Watts further expands on the notion of doing nothing in this lecture.
