INFINITE ALTRUISM IS YOUR NATURAL STATE

Below is a deeply touching story revealed in "The Crown".

The Crown on Netflix can provide some interesting views into history and the nature of who we are.

The last survivor recovered at the Aberfan coal mining accident (Season 3 of The Crown) was Jeff Edwards.

The quote and the life of Jeff is worth introspection.

Let’s reflect here on Jeff Edwards own enlightenment, in his words.

This is a direct experience of sorrow leading to happiness. From loss to helping others.

This was Edwards over 50 years ago being transformed by his own pain and the pain of others. He said:

"Because you survived, and others didn't. You feel like you have a duty to help as many people as you can." - Jeff Edwards

The great sage Shantideva gave us all a great prayer.

The Dalai Lama himself chants this daily.

"As long as space abides and as long as the world abides, so long may I abide, destroying the sufferings of the world." - Shantideva

Sound familiar?

Jeff Edwards quoted Shantideva without even knowing it.

He did not have to quote it, he experienced it.

Amazing!

All of us in our natural state are love and compassion.

Our "heart cave" is silent and blissful.

Our external acts and thoughts are much more than that and can be all over the map from good to evil.

In the end though, infinite altruism and always helping others is the way to happiness.
