The Emily Dahl Foundation was honored to have Fazil Sultan visit Vernon,BC this week. Pictured here is Fazil Sultan who was presented with one of the remarkable carvings from Saskatchewan artist, Ted Ohlsen. This lovely carving reminds us that “No One Dreams For Another”. Ted lost his eyesight in a hunting accident and went on to endure many challenges, as did Fazil growing up in a war torn area of the world. Both Ted and Fazil would say - "Life is what you make it". Fazil Sultan was born in the city of Erbil in Iraqi Kurdistan in 1954. He is an Iraqi-Canadian poet. No One Dreams For Another, his book of poetry, was published in 2009 by Dar Shams in Egypt. He left Iraq in 1986 and resides in Vancouver, Canada. Emily Dahl's father met Fazil at Olympia Pizza on Denman street and they become friends instantly. Fazil is a kind supporter of The Emily Dahl Foundation and has helped Emily's Dad in many ways. Fazil has a remarkable way of seeing the world. His teachings and poems bring instant peace to the busy mind as he points to the true nature of who we really are. Birth and Death - Fazil Sultan Between birth and death the present devours everything: the soul soars high and watches time, while our action weaves the space in between. The Emily Dahl Foundation
